Palácio da Brejoeira (Monção)
The Brejoeira Palace is located in the town of Pinheiros, in the town and county of Monsoon, district of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. Six kilometers south of Monsoon, is inscribed on a large rural property, divided among 18 acres of vineyard, woodland eight and three garden. This sumptuous palace is in an exponent of the noble houses in the country. It was erected in the early years of the nineteenth century and the work lasted until 1834. Although there is no clear evidence as to who was the author of your project, this has been attributed to Carlos Amarante, at the time, one of the most important architects in activity in north of the country. The building, ex-libris of the region and classified a National Heritage Site since 1910, is a “grandiose construction in neo-classical style” and is part of 30 acres that include a chapel, woods, gardens, vineyards and ancient cellar (matures here the prestigious Old Brandy). The house offers large and luxurious rooms, a rich library, a conservatory, a theater. Among the decorative elements, highlight figurative tiles, silverware, tableware or the Middle pearl and black wood furniture.
